The Communication Process

Communication as we all know is merely defined as a process of exchanging information and ideas between individuals through a very common system of symbols, signs and behaviors. In human, it is the process of making sense out of this world and sharing that sense to other people. Now the process involves three components: verbal, non-verbal and the symbolic.
In the formal education system of the schools, verbal communication is the primary skills taught that include things such as reading, writing, computer skills, e-mail, talking on the phone, writing memos and speaking to others. Non-verbal on the other hand, are also known as ‘body language’ that may include facial expressions, posture, hand gestures and the like. Symbolic communications on the other hand, are demonstrated by the cars we drive, the house we live in, and the clothes we wear.
