Non-Verbal Messages are More Important than What the Prospect Says

There are two levels of communication as we use them in our everyday lives. These are the verbal and the non-verbal levels. Verbally, the spoken words we use represent a very small portion of our overall message. As they say people can lie, misrepresent or mislead you with their words. On the other hand, non-verbal language represents over 50% of our total message. This is because non-verbal message will always be more accurate representation of the person’s feelings, attitudes of beliefs.

There are several ways on how to communicate non-verbally, like gestures, facial expressions, eye movements and eye contact, posture and body position, verbal tone, inflection, pauses, pace and volume. The way people dress also send non-verbal signal.
